A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GLENDALE, MARICOPA COUNTY, ARIZONA, AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE ENTERING INTO OF A LAND USE LICENSE WITH SALT RIVER PROJECT AGRICULTURAL IMPROVEMENT AND POWER DISTRICT FOR LAND LOCATED ON NORTHBOUND 89TH AVENUE SOUTH OF GLENDALE AVENUE, GLENDALE ARIZONA.

Purpose and Recommended Action

Recommendation

 

This is a request for City Council to waive reading beyond the title and adopt a resolution authorizing the City Manager to enter into a Land Use License with Salt River Project Agricultural Improvement and Power District (SRP) for the nonexclusive right to enter upon and use USA fee land located in the northbound 89th Avenue alignment south of Glendale Avenue.  Glendale Landlord, LLC, the owner of an adjacent parcel, will construct roadway improvements on 89th Avenue that will be located on the land the city is licensing from SRP.

Background

 

The subject location of the proposed license agreement is in the northbound 89th Avenue alignment approximately 175 feet south of Glendale Avenue. This location lies in the future right of way of 89th Avenue adjacent to the Westgate Village assisted living facility being developed by Glendale Landlord, LLC. The roadway improvements being constructed by Glendale Landlord, LLC will overlay the current USA fee land which will also contain a new irrigation pipe constructed to replace the existing irrigation ditch. 

 Analysis

 

There will be no impact on city departments, staff or service levels as a result of this action. There are no costs incurred to the city for this action.

 

Community Benefit/Public Involvement

 

The piping of the open ditch and the construction of 89th Avenue improvements will allow access to the new Westgate Village assisted living facility.
