Purpose and Recommended Action
. Recommendation
This is a request for City Council to authorize the City Manager to enter into a Services Agreement with ACS Conaid, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $53,974 for public outreach services for the 95th Avenue Extension, PS Parking Lot, and Pedestrian Infrastructure Improvements projects.
Background

The 95th Avenue Extension project includes a full width street and utility extensions from Bethany Home Road to approximately 700 feet South of Missouri Avenue. The PS Parking Lot Project located at Bethany Home Road and 95th Avenue includes a parking lot with 4,001 parking spaces south of Bethany Home Road, construction at Montebello Avenue from 91st to 95th Avenues, and a traffic signal at Montebello and 91st Avenues. The Pedestrian Infrastructure Improvements includes a tunnel under Bethany Home Road and two pedestrian bridges over the Salt River Project canal and the Bethany Home Outfall Channel.
Analysis

The Engineering division selected ACS Conaid, Inc. from its on-call consulting list to help provide public outreach and project meeting support, including the setup of 24 hour/7 days a week project hotlines, and the preparation and distribution of public informational materials to businesses and residents.

Public information and outreach is one of the most cost effective methods to mitigate the impacts of work zones activities. The use of a public relations firm such as ACS Conaid, Inc., ensures that accurate and timely information reaches the public to help improve safety, and decrease traffic delays and public frustration.
