Purpose and Recommended Action
Recommendation
This is a request for City Council to recommend approval to the Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control of a special event liquor license for the Magnificat, submitted by Laurie L. Walsh. The event will be held at St. Helen's Church inside the social center located at 5510 West Cholla Street on Saturday, May 7, 2016, from 11:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The purpose of this special event liquor license is for a fundraising luncheon.

St. Helen's Church is zoned R1-7 (Single-Family Residential) and located in the Barrel District. If this application is approved, the total number of events issued at this location will be four of the allowed 12 events per calendar year. Under the provisions of A.R.S. § 4-203.02, the Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control may issue a special event liquor license only if the Council recommends approval of such license.
The City of Glendale Development Services, Police, and Fire Departments have reviewed the application and determined that it meets all technical requirements.
