Staff Contact: Mark Burdick, Fire Chief
Purpose and Recommended Action
Recommendation

This is a request for City Council to waive reading beyond the title and adopt a resolution authorizing the City Manager to accept the 2013 Arizona Department of Homeland Security (AZDOHS) Grant Program Award of reallocated funds # 130810-04 in the approximate amount of $19,317 to be used by the Fire Department to replace the City's Emergency Management Unified Command Situational Room server at the Emergency Operations Center.

Background

These are new grant funds being reallocated to Glendale, obtained from the unused portions of other agencies' 2013 Arizona Department of Homeland Security (AZDOHS) Grants.

The purpose of this project is to replace and update the Unified Command Situational Room server.  This project will assist in the coordination of data to support major regional events including the Fiesta Bowl, College Football Championship, and numerous other special events.  This project will replace an old outdated server.  The resource supports critical functions in the regional emergency management system, including interoperable communications, situation awareness, and resource coordination.
Analysis

The fire department will be receiving $19,317 in grant funds that will fund the purchase of the system server.  The grant performance period is condensed, since it is a reallocation.  The performance period ranges from January 1, 2015 until July 31, 2015.  If all documentation is not signed and received by AZDOHS on or before April 30, 2015, this award is rescinded and the funds will be reallocated.
Previous Related Council Action

Council has accepted grants annually from the AZDOHS since 2003.
Budget and Financial Impacts

There is no financial match required for this award.  A specific project account will be established once the agreement is fully executed.
